“Bank of England raises base rate to 5%” https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetary-policy/the-interest-rate-bank-rate

Today sees another rise in interest rates from the Bank of England. The base rate has increased from 4.5% to 5%. This represents a larger then expected rise and the 13th consecutive increase in the base rate due to the sticky nature of the inflation rate for May 2023 which was expected to fall but remains stubbornly at 8.7%.

The MPC voted by a majority of 7–2 to increase Bank Rate by 0.5 percentage points, to 5%. Two members preferred to maintain Bank Rate at 4.5%.
